Until now, there has not been any consistent grading standard for Dendrobium orchids. Some producers use S, M, L, SL; some use L, LL, XL; but either way, the purchaser does not know how long the flowers really are. Also, some producers have standards which vary during the year.
For almost 10 years, Amy’s Orchids has had a policy of consistent size grading for Dendrobium. Using this grading scale, Amy’s Orchids promises that all flowers in a bunch will be within the same length range, year-round. The new standard, using numbers to designate length, rather than letters, will provide a little more meaning.

Along with the new grading standard comes new packaging sleeves. These clear plastic sleeves with Amy’s logo clearly visible, have a visual scale printed right on the sleeve, so you can see the true length of what you are buying immediately. There are lines across the sleeve every 10 centimeters, with numbers to indicate the centimeter length.
